About us

A South African internet speed test focused on real-world connection quality, not just headline Mbps.

About Lekker Speed Test

Lekker Speed Test is a South African-focused internet speed test built to help everyday users understand how their connection actually performs.

Most speed tests focus mainly on download speed. That is useful, but it does not tell the full story. A connection can show a high Mbps result and still feel slow when you are gaming, joining a video call, streaming, uploading files or sharing Wi-Fi with the whole household.

Lekker Speed Test helps you look beyond the basic speed number.

Built for South African internet users

South Africans use the internet in a very local way. We stream sport, work from home, join WhatsApp calls, game on local and international servers, compare fibre packages, use mobile data, and sometimes wonder whether the Wi-Fi or the ISP is the real problem.

Lekker Speed Test is designed around that reality.

The goal is simple: give users a fast, clear and locally useful way to check their connection.

What are Mzansi verdict verdicts?

Mzansi verdicts are short, plain-language reactions to your speed test result. Instead of only showing numbers, they help explain what your connection might feel like in real life.

Some verdicts are practical, some are proudly South African, and some are just there to make the result a little more human. They are based on your measured speed, ping, jitter, and connection quality.

What we measure

Lekker Speed Test helps you understand:

  • Download speed
  • Upload speed
  • Ping
  • Jitter
  • Loaded ping
  • Bufferbloat
  • General connection quality

Each part of the result tells a different story. Download speed affects streaming and browsing. Upload speed affects video calls and sending files. Ping and jitter affect gaming and calls. Bufferbloat helps explain why a fast connection can still feel laggy when the line is busy.

Why we built this

Internet speed numbers can be confusing.

You may pay for a 100 Mbps fibre line but only see 40 Mbps over Wi-Fi. You may have fast downloads but poor video calls. You may have a strong mobile signal but unstable latency. You may have a good result one minute and a poor result later in the day.

Lekker Speed Test was built to make these results easier to understand.

We want the site to be useful for normal people, not only technical users.

Independent and practical

Lekker Speed Test is not an internet service provider. We do not sell fibre lines or mobile packages directly.

Our aim is to provide a useful testing tool, practical internet guides and easy-to-understand explanations for South African users.

Over time, we plan to add more helpful content, including:

  • Fibre speed guides
  • Wi-Fi troubleshooting tips
  • Mobile data speed guides
  • ISP comparison resources
  • Coverage and network information
  • More local verdicts and result explanations

Our approach

We believe a speed test should be:

  • Fast to use
  • Easy to understand
  • Mobile-friendly
  • Honest about what results mean
  • Useful for everyday South African internet users

Lekker Speed Test gives you a snapshot of your connection at the time of testing. For the best picture, we recommend testing more than once and comparing results across different times of day.
